My doctor wants to treat my genital warts
with trichloroacetic acid. Does it work?
Sometimes. This acid is less irritating
and also has less toxicity compared to the other agents like podophyllotoxin.
It has to be used many times, and even then, recurrences are common. If you are
going to go with trichloroacetic acid, you need to combine it with freezing
therapy. It is also the cheapest therapy and I do recommend it for genital
warts.
